Carolyn B. Yucha, PhD, RN, FAAN
Biological Research for Nursing
Editor, Biological Research for Nursing, April 2002
Years as Editor: Since 2002
Years in INANE: Since 2002
Other Position: Dean, Schools of Nursing and Allied Health Sciences, University of Nevada, Las Vegas, July 2004-present
Accomplishment: Acceptance into Thomson's Scientific's Science Citation Index Expanded
Best: Opportunity to make publication decisions which impact future research and health care.
Worst: Dealing with poorly written manuscripts
Amusing Story: When I accepted this editorship, BRN was way behind in publishing because of a lack of manuscripts. Working with an outstanding colleague, appointed as managing editor, we developed our own electronic system using email that allowed us to respond to authors and reviewers rapidly. This increased our image in the nursing community and submissions have markedly increased.
3 words: Organized, efficient, consistent
Strangest request: No strange requests that I can remember.
If not editor?: Write more.
Relax?: Reading, swimming
