Joy Wachs, PhD, APRN, BC, FAAOHN
AAOHN Journal
Editor, AAOHN Journal. November 2004
Prior Editor’s Position: Continuing Education Section Editor, AAOHN Journal
Years as Editor: Since 2004
Other position: Professor, Family/Community Nursing Coordinator, CON International and Honors in Discipline Programs, East Tennessee State University
Accomplishment: Assisting a host of unpublished authors not only to publish their first manuscript, but go on to publish many more.
Best: Working with new authors and assisting them to bring their ideas to print.
Worst: Keeping a schedule
Amusing: I solicited an article from a book author and received 150 double spaced pages for a 20 page article. We needed CE articles, so I cut the pages into paragraphs and created 3 articles. I swore I would never do that again!
3 words: Idealistic, supportive, tardy (but just a little)
Strangest request: "I really want to speak with the reviewer. I need to know what he/she was really thinking when the comments were written."
If not editor?: I would write additional grants and conduct more research in my other job as a university professor.
Relax?: I knit, sew, cross-stitch, read fiction, watch movies, garden and travel in our convertible.
