Linda Shields, PhD, FRCNA, FRSM
Neonatal, Paediatric and Child Health Nursing
Editor, Neonatal, Paediatric and Child Health Nursing
Other Position: Professor of Paediatric and Child Health Nursing, Curtin University of Technology and Child and Adolescent Health Service, Perth, Western Australia, Australia
Years as Editor: Since January 2009
Years in INANE: Since January 2009
Accomplishment: Planning, setting up and running to completion a 10 year exchange programme of health professionals between a hospital in Indonesia and one in Brisbane, Australia, that created huge changes in the delivery of patient care in both places.
Best: International research collaborations
Worst: Getting serious hate mail after publishing a paper (with Roger Watson, who is also on this list) criticizing nursing in the UK.
Amusing: attending Sung Evensong in Lincoln Cathedral in England, beautiful choral music in this wonderful medieval cathedral, and I forgot to turn off my mobile phone. It rang just before the choirmaster started a hymn. The phone plays "Waltzing Matilda" (I’m an Aussie). My husband was mortified!
Strangest Request: To adopt a dog from Mongolia called "Rabies" (my son was living there at the time. Sadly, due to quarantine laws, we couldn’t do it).
3 words: Enthusiastic, outspoken, optimistic
If not editor?: Ask me when I’ve been doing it for a year!
Relax?: Reading "whodunnits", gym, going to the ballet
