Angela Hartley, MA, MPhil, ELS
Journal of Obstetrics, Gynecologic, & Neonatal Nursing (JOGNN)
Managing Editor, Journal of Obstetrics, Gynecology, & Neonatal Nursing (JOGNN), March 2004
Prior Editor’s Position: Managing Editor, Obstetrics & Gynecology (The Green Journal), November 2000-January 2004
Years as Editor: Since 1996
Years in INANE: Since 2008
Other Position: Freelance editor and consultant, January 2004 - present
Accomplishment: Helping to update my journal by migrating to an online submission and review platform and launching a complete redesign.
Best: Receiving complimentary feedback from authors who I have helped to make their papers better.
Worst: Editing manuscripts from non-English speaking authors and authors who are careless with references.
Amusing: I once received an email from the boyfriend of an author saying something like, "Rock on baby! Great job. I love you!" She sent him her acceptance letter, and he accidentally responded to me. I responded to them both that I appreciated the terms of endearment and I too was proud of the author.
3 words: Kind, funny, and conscientious (I hope).
If not editor?: Be an English teacher, which I did for 13 years at the university level.
Relax?: Cook, go to the theater, read, garden, spend time with friends, and work on "this (my) old house."
