Which editing accomplishment is the one about which you feel most proud?
I'm most proud of my certification from the Board of Editors in the Life Sciences (BELS). It was really satisfying to push myself beyond my everyday work limits and truly apply what I'd learned over the years as an editor.

What is the best thing about being an Editor?
I love the feeling of making an impact. When I think about how what I do helps others learn and advance in their profession, it makes me feel accomplished.

What is the worst thing about being an Editor?
Deadlines! It's almost impossible to emphasize their importance to those working outside of the publishing realm.

Share an amusing story about editing.
After sending a foreign author an honoraria check, he requested the funds to be wired to an international account instead. Rather than return the original check, he emailed me a picture of the check ripped into tiny pieces to prove it had been destroyed. The U.S. equivalent was only about $50. I think he believed it was worth much more!

Which three words would your colleagues use to describe you?
dedicated, reliable, innovative

What is the strangest request a potential author has ever made of you?
An author once asked me to remove a stock photo of a male nurse which we planned to run next to her article. She said she didn't want to be confused for a man!

How do you relax?
I enjoy playing with my pug, reading, researching my family ancestry, and doing volunteer work.
